“I believe it takes a tremendous amount of bravery to seek therapy and I'm glad you are here! In my work with clients, I teach authenticity and use a variety of therapeutic tools to help them connect with the most honest parts of themselves so they can truly heal”
Jessica Hornage is the Lead Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Founder of Innate Counseling & Therapeutic Center. Born and raised in rural Louisiana, her desire to help others, calm and empathetic personality and personal experiences led her to this profession.
She moved to Houston, Texas, and attended Texas Southern University on a full athletic scholarship, learning the unique challenges of balancing life as a student-athlete along the way. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Texas Southern, Jessica relocated to Dallas, Texas where she worked in various mental health settings while pursuing her Master of Arts in Community Counseling.
Jessica has worked with diverse populations on a variety of issues across different healthcare settings since 2011. She is passionate about ending the stigma surrounding the topic of mental health, especially in black and less privileged communities, and has a specialized focus in her practice on helping others heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression-related issues. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. Jessica believes we all have the innate ability to overcome life challenges, and that therapy is a process that helps recognize and enhance the use of these natural qualities. Clients compliment her calm and open approach and ease with creating a safe space for them to explore sensitive topics. They are often surprised at how soon they begin feeling comfort and relief when working with her.
In her spare time, Jessica enjoys plain ole’ relaxing with loved ones and her fur baby, Miles, the most. She is family-focused and a self-care advocate so much of her free time centers around recharging, relaxing, and having fun. She enjoys exercising and exploring nature, new cities, and eateries, and completing spontaneous DIY projects.
